It’s a special time to be a DP, and the year 2023 has seen a flooding of anamorphic lenses on the market.
Some were good, some were not as good, and while some were expensive, some were more affordable.
The Chinese company Blazar had quite some succes with it’s front anamorphic adapter, the NERO, so when they announced they would use it as a base for a new lineup of 1.5x FF anamorphic lenses, the world was watching.

Coming in clutch with the initial 3 focal lengths, the Remus are compact, full frame 1.5x anamorphic lenses with the classic character we expect from anamorphic lenses : barrel distortion, some CA and good focus falloff.
With close focus around 2ft for each lens, the use of diopters is almost unnecessary, and with the wide apertures, you’ll have plenty of background separation!
